Science provides a way of thinking about the world. Learning in science raises and examines critical questions and promotes understanding about the natural and physical world, and provides students with inquiry and investigation skills that allow students to become effective lifelong learners.
This mural was designed to inspire our young female students in STEAM career paths that are traditionally dominated by males. The work ignites inspiration, arouses intellectual curiosity and knowledge about three female scientists and their respective fields. The mural exemplifies student advocacy and student voice.

The mural artist is Reuben Boughtwood (aka Reubszz). He is an outstanding street artist who has an extensive portfolio of work in Sydney.
Professor Fiona Wood is a highly skilled plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a world leading burns specialist. She has pioneered research and technology development in burns medicine. She is most famous for inventing ‘spray-on-skin’ for burns victims.
Kaye Morgan is an Associate Professor at the School of Physics and Astronomy, Monash University and winner of the 2023 Eureka Prize. Kaye works in the field of x-ray optics, developing new methods of imaging that reach new scales in resolution, speed and sensitivity. This allows her to take snapshots of the airways and air sacs of the lungs in real-time. She is working towards finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis Lung Disease.
Katherine Bennell-Pegg is an Australian aerospace engineer and director of space technology at the Australian Space Agency. She is the first Australian to train as an astronaut under the Australian flag. She is completing this training at the European Space Agency in Germany.
