The English Faculty conducts a Debating and Public Speaking Program where students are able to test their ideas, develop skills in argumentation and public speaking and develop confidence in themselves.
All students in Years 7 participate in class debates and opportunities are provided for other Years to participate in inter-school debating competitions and other debating and public speaking competitions.
All students in Years 7 - 10 participate in The Mary Armstrong Cup - a public speaking competition. Our students continue to achieve considerable success at local, regional and state level in debating and public speaking.
A social debating group meets in Terms 2 and 3. Past students have brought their debating experience and expertise to train interested students in Years 7 and 8.

- Premier’s Debating Challenge - Years 7-12.
- Social Debating Years 7 and 8.
- Year 11 Metro Debating Competition.
